Key points from the January 18, 2010 Management Council Meeting.

Council unanimously agreed to the construction of a driving range funded by members of the Men’s Club. The proposal is to be put before a Special General Meeting of the Members.

The Club website has been updated including “special offers” and Blogs; website development is ongoing.

Council agreed to secure the tournament final of TOP GOLFER to be hosted by our Club on 1st and 2nd October 2010.

A free membership draw during the West of Ireland Championship weekend was approved for members who signed up to the direct debit or who had their subscriptions paid before end of February 2010.

Discounted bar price promotions for Friday evenings at the Club was approved by Council.

Two final candidates are being considered for the catering franchise; the appointment will hopefully be made in February.

The revised budget for the 15 months FY 2010 projecting a small profit for the Club was approved by Council.

The Council approved the Links Committee proposals for course modification and improvement. The proposals will be put before a Special General Meeting of the Members.

Special General Meeting 
A Special General Meeting of County Sligo Golf Club members took place on Friday 19th February 2010 at 7.30pm in the Clubhouse.

There were two motions before the meeting:

Motion No.1:
To approve an investment of less than €100,000 to construct a driving range at the Bomore practice area by July 2010 and in line with the planning permission obtained in 2005.  The cost of the project will be underwritten by a number of members from the Men's Club and will utilise funds already ring fenced by the fund raising exercise for this project.

Motion No.2:
To approve the development of certain tees and course modifications to the Championship Links and the Bomore Course as specified by the retained course architect Mr Martin Hawtree.  Projects will be undertaken as and when resources become available.

The new tees and course modifications are prioritised below:
1.  Bomore Course 9th hole - new tee.
2. Championship Course 18th hole - new tee and remove the 3 bunkers on right side of fairway.
3. Championship Course 4th hole - new tee.
4. Championship Course 2nd hole - new tee.
5. Bomore Course 1st hole - new tee.
6. Championship Course 8th hole - alter fairway bunker first one on the left.
7. Championship Course 1st hole - new tee.

Both motions were passed by the members. Construction will commence shortly on the driving range with a completion date in mid summer 2010.
The time frame for the upgrades to both courses will depend on finance, but it is expected to be completed in 2012.
